The Fox 38 Factory GRIP X2 is a premium long-travel suspension fork built for aggressive enduro, eMTB and hard-charging trail riding. With its stiff 38mm chassis, highly adjustable GRIP X2 damper and Factory Series Kashima Coat, the Fox 38 is designed for riders who want confidence, support and control when speeds increase and the terrain gets rough.
The 38 sits in the sweet spot for modern long-travel bikes that need more stiffness and support than a lighter trail fork, without stepping up to a dual-crown downhill fork. It's particularly well suited to enduro bikes and full-power eMTBs where additional chassis stiffness can make a noticeable difference under heavy braking, through compressions and across rough, technical terrain.
At the heart of the Factory 38 is Fox's GRIP X2 damper, developed to provide a wide tuning range and excellent control through demanding terrain.
Independent high- and low-speed compression and rebound adjustment gives riders substantial control over how the fork responds. This allows the 38 to be tuned for everything from grip and comfort through technical terrain to greater support for aggressive riding, jumps and high-speed impacts.
For riders prepared to spend some time getting their suspension dialled in, the GRIP X2 platform provides the adjustment needed to get considerably more from the fork than simply setting air pressure and rebound.
The 38mm stanchion chassis is designed around the demands of long-travel enduro and eMTB riding.
The increased stiffness helps maintain steering precision when the fork is heavily loaded, particularly under braking, through steep terrain and when pushing hard through rough sections. That additional support is particularly relevant on heavier eMTBs, where increased bike weight places greater loads through the fork.
Despite its gravity-focused construction, the 38 remains a single-crown fork, making it a versatile option for bikes that still need to climb and pedal as well as descend.
The FLOAT air spring provides excellent tunability for different rider weights and riding styles. Air pressure establishes the basic spring rate, while volume spacers can be used to alter progression and bottom-out resistance.
Combined with the adjustment available through GRIP X2, this allows the Fox 38 to be configured around the rider rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all suspension tune.
Fox Factory Series forks feature the distinctive Kashima Coat finish along with Fox's premium damper technology.
Beyond its appearance, Kashima provides a hard, low-friction surface treatment designed to contribute to smooth and consistent suspension operation.

For riders looking at Fox's premium gravity-oriented single-crown forks, the 38 and Podium serve slightly different purposes.
The Fox 38 is an extremely capable enduro and eMTB fork that balances stiffness, suspension performance and versatility. The Podium takes the single-crown concept further towards outright gravity performance with an even more substantial chassis.
For most long-travel enduro and eMTB applications, the Fox 38 remains an excellent option. Riders prioritising maximum chassis stiffness and descending performance may also want to consider the Fox Podium.
Suspension performance depends heavily on getting the fork properly matched and set up for the rider.
